How does xmii communicate with shop floor sensors. My understanding is it can not directly . You require intermediate system.
Can some one correct my view .
Shop floor sensors will typically be connected to a PLC through an input card, and a shop floor SCADA or HMI system will provide the operator interface to the system(s) associated with these sensors. In an ideal world a process historian then communicates either directly to one or more of these PLCs, or through the SCADA software's connection to historically log the values. This is the ideal place for xMII to communicate, because the historian provides not only current values, but also the time series historical and event data.
Not providing anything but current values only, an OPC server can communicate with PLC's and some smart devices (sensors don't seem realistic), and xMII can communicate with the OPC server using the OPC UDS software found on Service Marketplace.

Jeremy
