Connecting NWDS to NWDI

Dear All,

When I open the development configuration or the DTR perspectives in NWDS and right click on the OFFLINE icon, the 'login' option is greyed out. Can anyone tell me why this is?

Kind Regards

Hello Chris,

You will need to create DTR client on your system.

Do simple thing for that, import the remote configuration into youe NWDS.

This will automatically create a DTR client for you.

Or else , you will need to go to DTR menu and select option create client.

Let me know in case of issue.

Chris, I can't really tell you whether Ashutosh's reply is going to work for you but from my experience I can tell you that we have over 20 developers using NWDS and not a single one has had to create a DTR client locally.

All we do is go into Windows --> Preferences --> Java Development Infrastructure --> Development Configuration Pool.

Then enter the url to your NWDI server in the URL input field. For example, in my case it's http://server:50000.

There is a button labeled "Ping Server" under that. Click that to test your url.

Obviously, you'll need to be defined in the UME of the NWDI server. If you are, then you should be able to connect fine.

Hi David,

Thanks for your response. I will try this out, I am a complete 'newbie' to JDI and it seems that I am the only person in my organisation using NWDS, hence i am learning how to set things up. My aim is just write some Java to get some info out of the SLD. Thanks again...
