Sap Management Console on Linux

I'm trying to start SDM with the HTTP Sap Management Console on Linux. When I choose "restart" a popup ask me to enter a user and a password. I tried to enter root with the correct password and then SIDadm with the correct password but It doens'nt work. The popup come again without any error message.

Any ideas?

What Linux version ?

If you are using SLES 10 then please check note 958253 and the section "PAM configuration needed for sapstartsrv and sapcontrol", chances are it's not authenticating with the correct encryption method.

My linux version is Linux Redhat Enterprise 4.
