e.BPM
f.MArket acceptance
5.Data security as expected from any SAP product.
6.Standards based - XML, XSD, Xpath etc

Hi Venky,
XI is a like many others Middlewares, but it suits well for connecting SAP(like ERP, CRM) systems with each other and with non-SAP and SAP provides XI content which can make your integrations very easy .If your focus is not on SAP systems, other middlewares might be a better.
SAP XI provides an integrated workflow engine that allows to define adapters to non-XML-protocols and mappings to convert data content from source to target.

Hi
Even without XI we can have integrations possible. The justification of XI lies on its simplicity in delveoping interfaces, monitoring, alerts etc....
and moreover you can do some data modification in XI while transfering it to the target system.

Hi,
>>what are the benifits using only xi?
If you tlk abt benefits of XI, there are so many and I agree with some of the controversies too... any way, that is not our intention.. why we need to go for XI than other middlewar is: All the NW solutions (EP, MDM, BW, KM & XI) work on the same Technology platform i.e. SAP WAS and can tlk to each other easily and all these are well integrated to SAP, hence if the back-end applications are from SAP, it gives a very strong reason for the customer to choose... and the most important point is shipping of the business content, since SAP provides the content, it reduces the integration effort and TCO.
