I changed sap server's hostname,the disp+work.exe cannot start.

I changed sap server's hostname, and also changed the profile's config, but the disp+word.exe cannot start. the warning from windows2k os is :

Failed to update service environment from user (BBPSRV\bbpadm) environment. [ntservmgr.cpp 184]

the current hostname is "bbpsr2",but the above warning shows "bbpsrv",how can it be like this? where else to change the hostname in sap rather than the profile?

- did you also change the system name in "My Computer"?

- post the content of dev_w0 here, then we will see, why the system is not coming up

BTW, the user used to start sap should be what? or be in which group?

SIDADM is the user always , i have to say this activity should be performed carefully and all services , profile names and their contents should be replaced with new name,....

C:\Documents and Settings\bbpadm>r3trans -d

This is r3trans version 6.05 (release 46D - 02.10.00 - 16:10:00).

r3trans finished (0000).

C:\Documents and Settings\bbpadm>

if the filename should be changed, then the ntscmgr.exe should be used to change the service config in os service level. I did it before, but I 'd better try it again.

thanks

Yes you should change the file's name to bbpsr2? all profiles need to be renamed after changing their contents

Former Member

Hi Zhang,

Kindly recheck whether you missed out on any entries of hostname in , Default, start and instance profiles then take a restart of the system. Import Profiles from active server in RZ10 i.e. utilities>Import Profiles>Of active servers.

Also pls check whether you have set any profile parameter defining the host name e.g. icm/host_name_full etc.

Hope it is useful

Regards

Umesh

It doesn't take effect,still.

the hostname is original "bbpsrv",now it is " bbpsr2",but the profile is still " BBP_DVEBMGS00_bbpsrv",but the entry in it is bbpsr2, if I should change the file's name to bbpsr2?

thanks AjitR!

But I did complying your procedure, and it seems not effective.

my enviroment is windows2k advanced server.

Former Member

Zhang,

If it is Win 2k then you must need to find and replace all entries in REGEDIT

with new hostname in step 5 in my procedure.

Try out and let me know.

If you don´t have the permission or an S-User then I wonder why you have the software...

Those documents are copyrighted material and can´t be sent, you need to download youself.

And as the part of the quoted note state, it´s not as easy as changing the hostname.

Please refer to note 8307 for step by step procedure.

and here is my personal document i have prepared after successfull execution of this activity.

SAP profile ( Instance, Start and Default profile) will be changed, Registry

entry ( if you are using NT), TNSNAMES and Listner file,

TPPARAM file etc.

1. Stop the SAP and Oracle

2. Chnage the Host name and IP address

cysoft4 cytest

3. Change the Profile parameter ( <drive> \usr\sap\SID\SYS\profile ) name

( Start and instance profile) and change the inside where the old host name.

4. Change the envirinment variable ( SAPLOCALHOST)

5. Go to registry and find the old host name and change with new host name

HK CURRENTUSER / ENVIROMENT

HKEYLOCALMACHINE / software / sap / dev / environment

HKEYLOCALMACHINE / system / controlset001 services / sapdev_00

6. Change the tnsnames and listener ( <drive> \oahome\netw

rk\admin)

7. Change the TPPARAM file and open all the files in \usr\sap\trans\bin and

change the old hostname with new hostname

8. Goto Oracle enterprise manager and change the OS user ID and SAP service

user ID

Please check Services after changing all these. Start all the service which

are required to start.

Start the oracle first and then SAP.

- All connected external systems must know the new server name (e. g. Fax, Archiving, BI/BW, CRM, Portal, XI, backup software, SMTP-Server...)

- All RFCs of connected systems must be changed accordingly to reflect the new hostname settings

- DNS settings must be changed (if they use DNS)

- Entries in saplogon.ini (SAPlogon) must reflect the new server name

- If the server is a member of an Active Directory Domain additional steps have to be done (thereu00B4s a document on the MS site I canu00B4t find yet unfortunately)

Go through both and perform the same.

Best Regards,

AjitR

Changing a systems hostname is a LOT of work, is not really documented and may or may not work.

You need to change (amongst other things)

- profile

- c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

- registry keys (for SAP + Oracle)

- users (OPS$)

- shares (SAPMNT etc.)

- Oracle database

See Note 8307 - Changing host name on R/3 host: What do you do?:
