Applying SPs Using SAPinst

Former Member

Hi!

I'm currently updating our JDI server from SP Stack 09 to 12.

I'm using "SAP Netweaver '04 SP Stack 12 Guide", and in the document, it says that I have to use SAPinst to apply the .SAR files (J2EERT, SAPINST, CTRL, J2EERTOS).

Where can I find this SAPinst tool? Is this the startinstgui.bat in the Master DVD of NetWeaver '04? I keep on getting an error when I enter the hostname and port no.

Please help.

Regard,

Erik

Hi Erik,

You need to install(update) the JDI . Go to http://service.sap.com/patches -> Entry by Application Group -> SAP Net Weaver -> SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER 04 -> NWDI -> JDI 6.40 -> #OS independent

(To access this URL you have to have UserId and Password)

Hi RK,

Please read the message above. I have all the files to patch my JDI server.

The patches (*.SAR) to upgrade the SAP WEB AS Java 6.40 needs SAPinst (according to SP Stack 12 Guide).

I'm having problems running the startinstgui.bat.

Go to http://service.sap.com/swdc and follow this path: Support Packages and Patches -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER 04 -> Entry by Component -> Development Infrastructure -> SAP J2EE ENGINE 6.40 -> Select your OS. The SAPINST*.SAR you are looking for should be listed there.
