Monitor MTE Class "CCMS_DB_mcmtc"

I have one question regarding monitoring of the SAP Systems and the MTE Class CCMS_DB_mcmtc from Solution Manager.

In the satellite systems, that are monitored from another Solution Manager, I have the monitor "SAP DB"

(Tcode RZ20 --> SAP CCMS Monitor Templates --> Database -->SAP DB)

In satellite systems , that are monitered from my Solution Manager, I miss the monitor "SAP DB" and have only

(Tcode RZ20 --> SAP CCMS Monitor Templates --> Database …)

If I try to create the monitor “SAP DB” the popup warning tells me “SAP monitor sets cannot be modified”

The problem is that, if I create monitor with MTE Class CCMS_DB_mcmtc, then I receive the warning for the appropriate satelite system:

<SID> : MTE class CCMS_DB_mcmtc : No MTEs currently available

What are the technical steps to solve this problem?

Thank you very much!

Regards

Thom

Hello Thom,

if not all MTEs are available the corresponding data collector is not able to create them - or the data collector is simply not running.

In any case it would be a good idea to have a look into the SelfMonitoring tree in rz20. Maybe you will find here some error message pointing to the reason why the MTEs were not created.

IMHO the absolute favorite reason for a missing database monitor is a not activated background dispatching.

Hello!

Thank you very much for your response!

Perhaps you can also describe your proposal in more technical details.

Tcode RR20 ...

Which monitor should be checked?

Where do I find the background dispatching?

My problem still is that I miss the monitor SAP DB that should be located under:

RZ20 --> SAP CCMS Monitor Templates --> Database --> <b>SAP DB</b>

In my system I only have the structure

RZ20 --> SAP CCMS Monitor Templates --> Database -->

Thank you!

Hello Thom,

> Tcode RR20 ...

> Which monitor should be checked?

SAP CCMS Technical Expert Monitors - CCMS Selfmonitoring

> Where do I find the background dispatching?

This is described in the Online documentation: <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/be/44443c4a08ba26e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">Activating and Deactivating Method Execution</a>

Please note that you have to check this in the monitored system, not in the CEN!

Hallo Michael!

Many thanks for your response!

The next problem I detected, I do not have an entry for DB in:

DSWP --> Operations Setup --> Solution Monitoring --> System Monitoring

under Setup System Monitoring (left tree) should exist three entries:

SAP System <SID> <number>

<b>1) SAP Application Server

2) Server <servername>

3) Database <SID>-DATABASE</b>

I my own Solution Manager I miss the entry <b>Database <SID>-DATABASE</b>

How can the DB be activated?

Thank you very much!

Hello Thom,

just to clarify: the SAPDB MTE is now available in rz20?

Hello!

@Michael

The SAPDB MTE is now available, but only for the Solution Manger itself.

I went through the open alerts for background processing and CCMS Selfmonitoring marked them as completed and the SAPDB MTE has been appeared.

But very strange: the same procedure does not work for the satelite systems....

There the SAP MTE does not still exist.

<b>What is the procedure for the satelite system to activate SAP MTE?</b>

Thank you very much!

Hello Thom,

if the MTEs are not existing on the monitored systems you really should ignore the CEN for the moment (if an MTE of a satellite system cannot be displayed in the CEN the first step should be always to check the satellite system!).

What were your findings regarding SelfMonitoring and Background Dispatching <b>on the monitored system</b>? You didn't gave any information about this...

Hello Michael,

on the monitored system is everything ok in Background Dispatching. I have completed all the alerts. I think the problem is that something is wrong with Installation/(Client)configuration of DB. The Tcodes DB50, DB59 retrieve errors..

<b>Have you some troubleshooting information here?</b>

Thank you very much!

Hello Thom,

a note search (http://service.sap.com/notes) for terms like SAPDB and CCMS returns several notes, e.g. <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/990602">note 990602</a>.

Maybe a good starting point.
