save original as reference

When i am copying a data type to my data type in the same name space in IR, there is a option check box 'save original as reference.

can some pelase explain, in which case i need to check that and which case i should not.

this is urgent for me.......

Hi,

whenever you do not want to replace existing data type with new name...you need to check this box.
