Hi,
we are comparing XI and Biztalk+SapConnector.
Is there anyone out there who has also done this?
Any remarks are welcome!!

Yes. We did a compare between these two and finally picked Biztalk as XI is still in its infancy!!
Sterling commerce's GIS is also nice but very pricey..

Hello Jan,
I'm right now working in a Project that are using Biztalk to integrate a lot of external systems to R3.
We're using BAPIs, RFCs and IDOCs and everything is working fine here.
Off course XI will offer more tools for you, because it is a product from SAP.
If you need more information from some specific area, fell free to contact me.

Hi...
I am doing a study of how to integration Biztalk and PI 7.1 and my requirement will be like the folliowings:
SAP PI 7.1 will be used to integration SAP system
SAP Pi 7.1 will be the main gateway to be integrated with MS Biztalk
Biztalk will be used to integrate different NON SAP applicationS and systemS in our company.
all integrations between those non sap systems and sap systems will be handled between Biztalk and PI 7.1
NON SAP Systems < - -> Biztalk <
> SAP ERP
so what is the typical setup and configuration needs to be done on the SAP PI side ? what kind of system we need to create in SLD for biztalk ? what communiation channel should be used in send from SAP PI to Biztalk and vise versa ? is there any special adapter to be used for this ?
considering the web service to be used between biztalk and PI what needs to be done typically on both sides ?
do you have any real scenario that i can examine and share ?
Thanks alot
Tarek

Hi,
Since we run our environment in SAP hence we decided to use XI, it was bit complex at the beginning but at the moment we have got more than 30 business critical running somoothly with every little problem. We looked at the Biztalk as well at the beginning of the project but now we are quite happy with our decision.
Cheers,
Ranjan

Hi Danny,
We do a lot of work with both BizTalk and SAP XI. We actually helped test and certify the BizTalk 2000 SAP adapter for Microsoft. We also completed some large SAP XI implementations - so we have experience in both areas.
We feel that BizTalk is better suited when the team has a stronger Microsoft skills set and the integration is not solely SAP focused but between different backend systems. If the team has stronger Java and ABAP skills, and SAP is one side of the equation in terms of the integration, then SAP XI is the logical choice.
Beyond the basic RFC and BAPI connectivity that the BizTalk SAP connector provides, the XI platform offers more SAP integration capabilities such as better IDoc batching, header mapping, ABAP proxies which expose SAP XI functionality as ABAP classes in the SAP system, etc. What BizTalk does provide is some Business Activity Services and Business Activity Monitoring that XI does not provide as much funtionality.
