Hello

I'm trying to install a Netweaver 04s SR2 (Java Stack, EP, EP Core ...) on a Fedora 7 box. I know it's not a supported platform but anyway, during phase 24 (Start central services instance), the installer stopped with the following error trace :

It looks like the message server is not running or could not run on port 3901.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Thanks Hari

It helped but as much as I hoped

I got stuck at a later stage when the installer tried to deploy some Java components :

It's as if the java compiler cannot allocate the needed memory to go further. I guess there should be a parameter to set somewhere.

Thanks for your help

Hi Serge,

I did't get any clue after a long search, may be again try with reboot it will release some memory. I got a good note but it's useful once you complete the installation, Note no 723909

Hi

I've solved the problem ! It was not related to the port number but some sort of shared memory segment size that was not big enough. Thank you for your help.

Btw, I'm getting into another problem: the installer got stucked at stage 30

"Install Software Unit" and seems not being able to start 'process server0'.

I must admit I really don't know where to look for. Here is the Log Browser trace :

Hi Serge,

During the initial stages of installation, SAPInst will ask for the port number to be used, please check the screen shots, (if you documented from first) and find the port number you have specified.

In windows we have a command called "Netstat" which will give list of ports opened in our system. try finding similar command in Linux & check whtr SAP ports (39XX) are opened or not.

hope this info helps you,

regds,

Raj
