Hi SDN Team ,

I have joined as fresher in SAP Basis and having therotical knowledge.Request you all to make me successful in SAP Basis.

My first assignment is to perform Remote client cpoy( From Production client to Developenet client)

I have below points in my mind on how to do it but don't know how to check them.

I can check first point.

that is 1) Check sige of the client using program RSTABLESIZE or RSCLICHK.

2nd point :--

2)Check available space in /usr/sap/trans

I am not sure how much space required in /usr/sap/trans , if there is no space can I link to other file system , which has enough space.

3rd point:--

3)I need to check space requirements at File System level and at Database level

I am not sure

Which Tables I have to check at Database level( Maxdb) and what file systems I have to check at O/S level(Linux)

I know the 4th , 5th and 6th points.

4) change MAX_WPRUN_TIME paramet in source and target systems.

5)login to source client and export using T code scc8

6) Login to target client and import using TMS and run T code : SCC7

7 th point :

7) Can I merge two profiles and use as single profile for client copy?

Thanks in advance to all .

Thanks

Sai

Hi Sai,

Good you came to aright place. Now i will answer your quest.

1). Yes you can go ahead with RSTABLESIZE tocheck the client size. you may check this following link

2). You don't need to worry about the usr/sap/trans space.

3). Just caliculate the client size and then make sure same size of disk space is avilable.

rest you go with remore client copy not Import/export.

Hari.

Hi,

Thanks alot for your quick answers .

I was told that they have been using production client for the last 2 years so I am expecting that would be large client hence planing for Client Export/Import.

Since they don't have any additional system I can't go for System copy , I have only option is client copy.

Pls get me clear Idea on below question.

Which Tables I have to check at Database level( Maxdb) and what file systems I have to check at O/S level(Linux).

Thanks in advance.

Sai

Hi Sai,

You need to check the existing client size first, then chek Tablespaces , make sure they are hving more space than your client and make sure same Space is avilable at OS level. Further here is the procedure for client inport/export.

You dont need to create the client using trx SCC4. The 'target system' field shown in trx SCC8 is for the systems created in STMS. If you want to export you QA client to your PRD client defined in STMS, just choose this system in SCC8.

Choose the profile you want to use to export your client. Could be for example: SAP_EXBC (cutomizing, master user, clint-independant data)or SAP_ALL .

After you execute the export client, you will have 3 transport transport request orders (you can see the progress of the process with SCC3):

<SID>KO<nnnnn> -> client-independant data

<SID>KT<nnnnn> -> client-dependant data

<SID>KX<nnnnn> -> client-dependant texts

and their corresponding cofiles files...

To import these orders you must follow this order:

1) <SID>KO<nnnnn> -> client-independant data

2) <SID>KT<nnnnn> -> client-dependant data

3) <SID>KX<nnnnn> -> client-dependant texts

For the 1 and 2 you must use these commands:

- tp addtobuffer PERKOnnnnn <SID> pf=TP_DOMAIN_DER.PFL u18

- tp import PERKOnnnnn <SID> client xxx pf=TP_DOMAIN_<SID>.PFL u18

(for each order 1 and 2)

where TP_DOMAIN_<SID>.PFL is the name of your domain profile. You can find it here: <drive>:\usr\sap\trans\bin.

For the 3rd transport request (texts) you can use SCC7.

Hope this helps you, good luck!

Hari.

Hi Hari,

Thanks alot for your answers.

Hari , I have a doubt at Below lines, could you pls explain.

tp addtobuffer PERKOnnnnn <SID> pf=TP_DOMAIN_DER.PFL u18

- tp import PERKOnnnnn <SID> client xxx pf=TP_DOMAIN_<SID>.PFL u18

(for each order 1 and 2)

My question is : what is PER in tp addtobuffer PERKOnnnnn<SID> pf=TP_DOMAIN_DER.PFL u18

Request you to explain this.

Thanks in advance.

Sai,

It's just an example of SID, so there you input your SID( SAP system indentification).

Hi,

1) For remote client copy use SCC9 (without exporting and importing problems). Just define RFC connection (or use predefined one) - log on into destination client, and start remote client copy.

2) Do not worry about MAX_WPRUN_TIME - its for dialog processing.
