how to launch sapinstgui.exe on my PC

I got the following line in a Installation document of SAP in AIX Box

<b>Unix with remote gui --> launch sapinstgui.exe on your PC after sapinst on UNIX</b>

Please let me know the following infomation

How to start the remote GU

I can go to the Server path in my Windows system through command prompt ans start sapinstgui.exe. But pls tell now of how i start sapinst on UNIX

hi,

first of all set the environment variable for DISPLAY MODE.... to your system

and verify it by executing the command "xcock" , a clock will be displayed on your GUI tools window... (if the display variable is set properly!)

After this go to the sapinst.sh file and then execute it. thats all ....

It's already in the GUI thread.

I will repeat it.

dependin on the shell you are using you can use one of the following command to set Display variable.

export DISPLAY=LOCAL_IP:0.0

OR else

setenv DISPLAY LOCAL_IP:0.0

SAPINST should be meant to install SAP while the other should be for installing GUI.
