40B systems no longer start - V5R3

Hello group

We are running two 40B systems still as an archive on a V5R3 partition.

Kernel level is 1012

The systems were running Ok until I installed 3 new ECC6.0 systems on the same partition.

Now, the 40B systems fail to start.

dev_disp reports :

Any ideas ?

Hi Jo,

is "cleanipc" running fine ?

This error happens, when the shared memories are still there, because the dispatcher then thinks, that the system is up already and he was the second dispatcher ...

If possible you could try an IPL as well - then the stuff is deleted ...

Hi Volker

I already tried a manual cleanipc remove command, and the system was already IPLed during the weekend.

Still the 40B SAP systems don't start.

Maybe I need the latest kernel for 40B EXT ?

However, I tried to apply kernel level 1068 which I downloaded from the SAP Archive.

When trying to apply this kernel, I get message : Wrong kernel version, This patch requires the kernel from CD 51020599

I was pretty sure that we were already running 40B Ext kernel, but now I'm in doubt. How can I check this (if sap is not up) ?

Hi Jo,

you can be sure, that you are running the COM kernel !

But, you can use the following:

call dw

That will show a big list and then you see it in the top - I typically do a SBMJOB and then you receive a spoolfile, that is easier to handle.

Is this a COM kernel ?

Hi Jo,

yes, the other one would use V5R1 and perhaps EXT as well ...

=> you need the new CD !
