what are stateless and stateful communications in xi?
Hi,
The ICF supports both stateful and stateless communication in the server role. The ICF can therefore extend the lifetime of a special HTTP request handler beyond that of an individual request. Stateless mode is the default setting. For more info plz go thru:

If messages are not persisted inside integration server, then it is known as stateless. These are the normal async or sync scenaruis.
When messages are persisted inside XI for their use further, then it is knows as stateful communication. This is achieved using BPM functionality and Business Process Engine component of Integration Server
