1.Can someone plz guide me what is the difference in the functionalities between SD Foreign Trade module and GTS?

2.Did GTS come into picture to overcome the limitations of SD Foreign Trade module? i.e. Is GTS an extension of the features of SD-FT module?

3.I am learning Foreign Trade and GTS.Could somebody pleaseSend me step-by-step config documents, Functional documents/Business Blueprint related to Foreign Trade and GTS.

Hi Reshu,

GTS( Global Trade Services) is a extension of Foreign Trade or can say the New Dimential product.

Please find below the main difference betwenn SAP R/3 foreign trabe and GTS.

In SAP R/3 Foreign Trade.

1.Each Business Unit with Its Own Implementation of Foreign Trade.

2.Limited Export Funtionality

> Check at Order Level time only

> Valule depreciation Possible only.

3.Limited Embargo Functionality

e.g:- US embargoing cuba also prevents canada from shipping to cuba.

4. No Import Control Functionality

> Inculding no Support for Stock Tranport Scenarios

5. No Sanctioned Party Screening

6. Master Data maintainence for Materials must be Maintained for each Plant.

7.Does not have customs management functionlity.

In SAP Complaince Management ( part of GTS)

1. Available as an enterprise wide solution across business units/system

2.Richer Export Functionlity

>Check through out the sales order cycle.sales order fulfillment and invoicing.

> Automatically track both quantity and value depreciation with in an export license.

3.Richer Import control Funtionlity

>Check through out the purchasing cycle.Purhcase Order and Inbound Goods Movement.

4.Sanctioned Party List Screening availabel.

> Provides an Open and standard interface for integration with data proivdes.

7.SAP Customs Management functionlity is rich and completely offered in SAP Inculdes:

> Ability to assign to assign offical (e.g : HS Codes) to gobal product masters: Seamless upload of HTS Codes Possible with data Providers Such as World Tarrifs / Fed EX Trade Networks.
