Hi Amit,

there are lots of differences between Oracle and DB2 (which is available on Mainframe (zSeries) DB2 in SAP environment, AS400 (iSeries) DB4 in SAP and on Linux / Unix / Windows (LUW) DB6 in SAP). But SAP build their applications database independent, therefore you normally should not see any difference from an application perspective. The administration of the databases is obviously different, so some transaction in CCMS are database dependent.

The supported databases are (in alphabetical order): DB2 (on different OSs), Informix (up to SAP Netweaver 2004), MaxDB, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.

If you want to know differences in detail, you may study the administration guides available on SAP Service Marketplace. Otherwise you'll only start a flame war, because there are always supporters for Oracle, supporters for DB2 and also for the other databases. Non of them could really help you to decide. To many influences from your side have to be taken into account (license fees, knowledge, ...).

Regards

Ralph

DB2 runs on AS400 system

Oracle can run on wndows and almost all flavours of Unix.
