Hi,

While scheduling the backup in the DB13 it asks for the backup tape options.

If you are using using new tapes daily, then uncheck first three options and check the fourth option (Format media: which formats the media what ever is available in the tape drive and even give it a new name)

Try this out once.

Thanks

Kishore

Hello,

you have the wrong tape in the device. During the backup the media name is written to the tape and is honoured in later backups. The tape in the device (ID11S) can not be used as the tape name should be ID11S. I assume that you have a tape for each day for the transactionlog backups and the current tape is from the 11th Sept., but you need the one from the 13th Sept.

I'm having the same problem, but I want to write to the disk, so I'll change no tapes. After the backup is done, another agent will write the backup files to the tape.

Any other ideas?

Hi,

You may want to use MSSQL's DB Maintenance Plans. You can make backups to files, and then create some script to copy them to tapes.

Then you don't have to use DB13

Hi, Kim.

I agree that that is an alternative, but I'm sad to give up so early.

In fact, that situation I've discribed is already working now, but I wasn't able to recreate it by myself (another one created).

I'd apreciate any help.

Thanks.
