Deleting old production versions

Former Member

Hello,

In an attempt to clean our system a little bit, we are trying to delete some of our old master data (recipes, BOM and production version).

Now I remember that SAP performs a series of checks before allowing you to delete the production version, but I don't know exactly which checks that were.

Can someone please tell me which conditions have to be met before a production version can be deleted, and more importantly: how to check which condition is preventing a particular production version from deletion?

Thanks!

Regards, Albert-Jan

Thanks Dario, those are the conditions I was looking for.

At least, I assume these are also valid for production versions in PPPI.

Now if there was only a way to see which of those conditions is preventing me from deleting a specific prod.version... Anyone knows?

Dear Albert,

Just do what I ws reffering in my last communication.

system will give the list of conditionds to be fill filled depending on the use of the PV

try deleting the PV, you will get the message which is self explanatory

The Help text is not exactly self-explanatory:

You cannot delete prod. version 1 for material 1024515; see long text

Message no. CFV038

Diagnosis

You want to delete production version 1 for material xx in plant yy. However, production version 1 is still used by other applications.

System response

The system terminates the delete operation.

How can I find where the PV is still used?

Hi,

about CFV038

Please check if the production version is costed for this material!

You can see this in the 'Costing 2' TAB of the material master.

If you first delete / change this and save you should be able to delete

the production version.

Hope this help.

Please settle and close the orders of that PV

See in the following report

KKBC_HOE or KKF6n.

see the settlement amount...if alll the orders are settled then you will face this error.

Hello Sabine,

The Costing2 TAB reveals that the material has a standard price. How is this price deleted? It is not possible to delete it in the MM02..

BTW: we use production versions in the PPPI scenario, so no product cost collectors.

Hi,

The price cannot be changed in material master, you can change in t.code MR21.

Can you please explain the problem now?

The problem remains the same: when I try to delete the prod.version, I get following errormessage:

You cannot delete prod. version 1 for material 1024515; see long text

Message no. CFV038

Diagnosis

You want to delete production version 1 for material xx in plant yy. However, production version 1 is still used by other applications.

System response

The system terminates the delete operation.

So, my question still stands: how can I see what exactly is preventing me from deleting the prod.version?

Hi Posthuma

there is no single step to findout all the details for the PV.

But you can check as below.

you van calclulate the variance using KKS6 transaction for the material and period.

then do carry out settlement for the same period using CO88/ KK87

then delete all the open orders if any using MD04.

the cutoff period is set for the WIP calculation KKAS

the cutoff period is set for the variance calculation (operation KVAR)

then you can use MM02 or C223 to delete the PV

Hope this helps

Dear,

You can put a delition indicator to production version you want to delete.

I donot think there is any problem in deleting the production version.
