What is the difference between Delivery and PGI?

Hi

Creation of delivery means that you create the delivery document but there is no goods movement yet. After creation of delivery the requirements of the sales order will be removed from the sales order to the delivery, but the goods are still on your plant. The delivery has its own availability check (which works on other levels than in the order, for example you can do ATP-check on the batch level). moreover during delivery you can pack your material via Handling Units. There are also some other processes which are running during creation of the delivery.

The last process is the book of the goods issue. At this moment there is a real goods movement, requirements of delivery will be deleted and the goods leave the plant.

You have a possibility to finish a delivery process by a normal goods issue (with the goods movement), but you can do it also by another way (confirm service), of you deliver not the reals goods, but, for example, you deliver a service.

I hope, this explanation will help you a little bit further in understanding the delivery process.

Delivery means the goods are ready for shipping to the customer. it can be made from the shipping point.(also called start of the route or delivery unit).

where as PGI - it happens after picking the stock completely at the time of delivery, it creates the accounting document for billing. which it will be posted to GL accounts at the time of billing thru VF01.

Delivery means,

Business do Pickinf and packing here. BUSINESS HAS AUTHORISATION ON GOODS IN DELIVERY.

And once it completes we issue the goods.

GOODS ISSUE MEANS, GOODS MOVEMENT TAKES PLACE HERE, GOOD MOVE FROM BUSINESS TO CUSTOMER. and business also loose authorisation on goods. ....clear

Delivery note is the instruction to whare house people, from which storaga location they have to pick the goods ,qty.based on deliverynote wharehouse people pick the goods and arrange for delivery

Pgi means dispatch goods from the plant

PGI-post goods issue-Implied that Picking,Packing etc is carried out and now goods are ready for delivery to customer.(VL02)

In larger perspective...PGI is last step of Delivery Process...

In its role as central object of the goods issue process, the outbound delivery supports all shipping activities including picking, packing, transportation and goods issue. During the outbound delivery process, shipping-planning information is recorded, status of shipping activities is monitored and data accumulated during shipping processing is documented. When the outbound delivery is created, the shipping activities, such as picking or delivery scheduling, are initiated, and data that is generated during shipping processing is included in the delivery.

<b>Post Goods Issues:</b>

It is a process in deliveries which cahnges the ownership of the material to customer.As soon as the goods leave the company, the shipping business activity is finished.

When you post goods issue for an outbound delivery, the following functions are carried out on the basis of the goods issue document:

Warehouse stock of the material is reduced by the delivery quantity

Value changes are posted to the balance sheet account in inventory accounting

Requirements are reduced by the delivery quantity

The serial number status is updated

Goods issue posting is automatically recorded in the document flow

Stock determination is executed for the vendor's consignment stock

A worklist for the proof of delivery is generated

PGI-Post Goods Issue is one of the processess involved in Delivery..

the process of PGI involves with the complete picking of the material to be delivered to the customer from the picking point. this is process which is performed when the material is ready for picking after packing and other process involved..

Delivery as whole not only involves pgi but also includes other processes like packing, packing, shipping, etc.
