Hi Venky,

ICM is the Internet Communication Manager (ICM) dispatches user interface requests to the presentation layer and provides a single framework for connectivity using various communication protocols. Currently, modules are available for Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), HTTPS (extension of HTTP running under the Secure Socket Layer (SSL)), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), and Fast Common Gateway Interface (FastCGI).

Hey Venky,

The Internet Communication Manager (ICM) is the component of the SAP Web Application Server that receives and sends Web requests (HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP).

If you want to use the SAP Web AS as a Web server or client, you have to configure and monitor the ICM. The ICM administration functions are managed partly using profile parameters, and partly using the ICM monitor (transaction SMICM).

Regards,

Sushil Hadge.
