Batch Management:

Normally we use batch determination at delivery level, because at the time of order material may or may not be created.for this material should be configured with batch and batch determination should be checked in sales views of material.

Batch Determination during order Creation.

For this you need to maintain a Classes d for you Material. Depending on the Manufacturing process you can define the characteristics for your material.

Ex: Purity for Medicines, Resistance for Electric Items.

You need to create a class (You might have to create a new class type) which incorporates the characteristic.

First Create the Characteristic Using Ct04 and then using Cl02 create the Class including this characteristic.

Then in your material master Classification View Enter this class.

Then Create a Batch for the particular plant and Stor Loc using MSC1N.Give the value of the characteristics in this batch.

Then go to SPRO ->Logistics General ->Batch Management and maintain the Condition Technique (Procedure, Strategy Types and assignment to sales docs etc).

This component therefore ideally supplements the material master record, which may contain all data for describing and managing a piece of material, but which does not enable you to differentiate between individual items of that material.

Serial Number identifies the finished products, which we are selling to the customers. This helps the manufacturer to track and follow ups for that particular material sold.

Batch management: Batch management is used by Production guys, in which they are producing n number of finished goods in one batch.

Also while selling SD use the batch numbers.

serial number profile must be assigned to each material that is to be serialized. This assignment is made at plant level in the material master record.

This means that you can assign a separate serial number profile to a material for each plant. However, a material can have a mandatory serial number in one plant but not in others.

In a serial number profile, you define the following:

In addition, you can use serial numbers as the basis for routine maintenance and plant maintenance, providing that equipment master records exist for the individual products. In plant maintenance, the assignment of serial numbers to individual objects is referred to as serialization. The individual examples of a material or product are called objects.

Company X manufactures slide projectors of three different model types: A, B and C. A, B and C. Each model has its own material master record. The company assigns individual serial numbers to each projector. Each serial number uniquely identifies a projector and refers to the model type.
