Hi Experts,
We have a specific requirement.
Customer has a 3 Landscape System (ERP6.0).
As of Kernel 700, ITS is included by default in the System.
But customer does not want to use this System for ITS Functions.
He wants to make a separate Server for ITS alone.
and the separate server to talk to the (existing)
3 Landscape ERP6.0 System.
1. Is this Possible ?
2. What happens to the ITS in the (existing )ERP6.0 System.?
( If yes to Question 1, can the existing ERP 6.0 system's ITS be disabled. )
Need your Advice.
Thanks & Regards
Paguras
ITS is integrated, there is no separate software you can install to "just use ITS".
If the customer wants a dedicated ITS system, he will need to install an application server (a dialog instance) and configure that one accordingly.
To deactivate ITS, make sure, the system does not listen on the HTTP port (transaction SMICM) on those servers, you don´t want to.

Hi
Thanks a lot for your answer.
What I understand from your answer is as below:
( i put it in a simple diagram, even though it is not accurate i am sorry)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
^ 3 SYS LAND ERP 6.0 ^
^ (DB) (CI) (DI) ^
^ ^
^ (ITS) => X Deactivate ^

^^^^^^^^^^^|^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
^ Dedicated ITS System ^
^ (DI) ^
^ ^
^ (ITS) => OK Enabled ^

Is this OK ?

It´s as usual: it depends
If a company has specific requirements on security (HTTP access vs. non-HTTP access) it may be advised to use a separate system. If the application server that are already installed are capable of running ITS (in sense of sizing) one can use them for sure.
I don´t think, it would be necessary (in our environment) to build up separate ITS systems. However, this can be different if you e. g. enable access from the internet and you will need to put the ITS in a DMZ.
Generally it´s on the customers side to decide, whether it´s necessary or not. If your customer doesn´t have a policy that denies the use of HTTP on their normal systems, I don´t see a real reason, why they shouldn´t use their already installed systems.

Hi,
We understood that it is for the following 2 reasons customer is going for a separate ITS Server.
1. Security
2. Load Balancing.
Next I have a specific Question,
The New ( Separate ) ITS Server planned is of Windows. ( DI )
The Current Production System is of Solaris Oracle. ( CI & DB )
Is this combination ok or will it have any issues.
Thanks & Regards
Paguras
This combination will work, however, you may face some minor "issues":
- if the system is a Non-Unicode system, you will maybe see different sort orders on Windows and Solaris for non-Latin-1 languages (if you use them)
- you must keep the kernel patches (and Oracle clients) manually in sync and download all binary patches twice

Hi Markus,
I got your previous answer .
Thanks a lot for always being so helpful to this community.
BTW, I could not see any proper / valid SAP Approved Documents / Manuals for "Integrated ITS Setting and Configuration - Kernel 700"
(I could see documents like Blogs, SAP help etc in a random fashion, but could not see one proper Valid Document )
Do you have any idea. ?
Best Regards,
Paguras.
Hi Paguras,
You can find all the ITS information in here:
http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_01/helpdata/en/54/4d9993c6592941a407313a6763575c/frameset.htm
Hope this help.

This is official help documentation from SAP, you will find that also on your installation CDs. This is even more official than "Blog", because Blogs can be written by anyone.
For a good start you can use the following notes:
737625 - Parameter recommendations for the ICM
885580 - Integrated ITS: Configuration Parameters
