How to call 3rd party system form Portal

Hi ALL ,

I have a requirement to call a third party system ( that system maintains documents) from SAP portal .

What are the different ways in which i can call a third party system.

Some one has proposed to install SAP Gateway on the third part system and call the API's using that Gate way.

How can we call SAP Gateway from SAP portal .. and is this solution feasible. What are the other options to interact with 3rd party systems.

Thanks for your reply.I have gone through that post ..But it talks abt SSO .

I have the following Doubts .

1) Is it possible to install SAP GateWay on NON-SAP systems.

2) Is it possible to call external API's(External application ) using SAP GateWay

or any other method from Portal.

There are two ways of doing this.

1. Use the URL iView

2. Use the App Integrator.

You can call External Web Applns throw URL Iview.

Follow the path below..

Content Admin -> PCD -> RClik on ur folder

->Create New Iview -> Choose URL iview.

Give the URL of the web appln.

hi my external application is not a web application . it is a 3rd party application to maintain documents and the application provides some API's .So is ther any way to call it from Portal.
