Hi Lina,

when you do a new implementation go for MDM.

You have to go that way anyhow, when you do an upgrade of SRM.

Hi

You should go for CCM (Catalog content Management)

For information, see the documentation on SAP Help Portal:

http://help.sap.com ->

mySAP Business Suite -> mySAP Supplier Relationship Management -> mySAP SRM 5.0 -> mySAP Supplier Relationship Management -> Catalog Management -> Catalog Content Management -> Uploading Data -> Catalog Creation

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_ccm20/helpdata/en/index.htm

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_srmmdm10/helpdata/en/index.htm

Prerequisites

· SAP Catalog Content Management (CCM) 2.0 is installed

· Single Sign-On is configured for SAP CCM 2.0

· The Enterprise Portal Plug-In (Plug-In PI_BASIS 2004_1 SP05) is installed on the SAP CCM system

· For information on role assignment prerequisites, see the customizing activities in the SAP Solution Manager.

Hi

<b>SRM 5.0 support both CCM and SRM-MDM Catalog</b>

<b>Also check out the SAP presentation which gives you more detailed information:</b>

https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700006330992006D

MDM license is part of SRM as long as only the scenario "catalog management" is used. In case you want to use more, licenses come into game.

<u>CCM will be there eventhough MDM is available in SRM new release. But you will be having the option whether to contiue with CCM or shift to MDM(New license would be required for MDM). Regarding installation of CCM, it would be better if it is in DMZ for security reasons. It is upto you to suit your security concerns.</u>

Actually no new license is required for SRM-MDM. The SRM-MDM Catalog component will made available to mySAP SRM customers with the same license and support conditions as currently defined for SAP CCM.

<u>SRM-MDM is one of the Business Scenarios the MDM Suite covers.

It is called like that to differentiate between pure MDM processes (purpose Master Data Management) and SRM-MDM (purpose Catalog Management processes). Catalogs are master data like normal materials, just Content, why SAP also consolidated everything related to Master Data into the product MDM.

They also needed a selling point for making MDM a bit more popular and give it some excitement; with catalogs the argumentation is easy and provides clients an easy entry into the overall Master Data Management arena.</u>

The SAP SRM-MDM Catalog 1.0 Business Scenario as well SRM-MDM consists out of these four technical blocks:

- Server

  • SAP MDM Import Server

  • SAP MDM Server

- Database

  • SAP MDM Database

- Clients

  • SAP MDM Console

  • SAP MDM Data Manager

  • SAP MDM Import Manager

  • SAP MDM Workflow

- Web Application Server

  • SRM-MDM Catalog Search

For set up look into IT Scenario Configuration Guide for SAP NetWeaver MDM 5.5

(Document Version 2.00 – September 2006) available on the SAP Service Marketplace via quick link operationw04 &#8594; SAP MDM &#8594; SAP MDM 5.5 Documentation Center &#8594; MDM

Product replication, your are asking for, is needed in the case the materials are not there, as clients implement MDM for using catalogs only as well. They are the heart of the whole system & process. From there the master catalog can be created, which then can be integrated into catalog driven scenarios like SRM as well CRM via OCI. In case of SRM only (6.0) the config guide refers to the SRM-MDM Catalog Scenario (also, because the XI Content is specific for this scenario).

The SRM-MDM Business Scenario is mandatory starting with SRM 6.0. In case of a lower SRM release you have the choice between CCM and MDM.

Maintenance for CCM is currently scheduled to end in 2013. Long time for water to run down the whole river.

When your client is in evaluation stage to implement, I would consider SRM 6.0, as there are several major changes. In that case SRM-MDM is mandatory to be used. Depending on your client I also would consider outsourcing catalog management to a dedicated service provider. In case your client really wants to start with SRM 5.0 there is still the choice, but I would go for SRM-MDM. CCM 2.0 is available since X-mas 05 and is the last version, as SRM-MDM replaces CCM. The features of CCM are ok, but there are still some issues with it, which will never be resolved cause of SRM-MDM being the followup product. support for CCM is also limited for the same reason.
