Hello Gurus,

I am trying to recover my SAP installation (4.6D, Windows 2003server,Oracl 9.20) on a backup server (disaster recovery test). Because the backup server is slight different from the production server (no ASR possibility ) I have done following steps:

1. system, oracle, logs disks backup using windows backup with system state option (i did it few days ago).

2. new WIN2003 installation and system restore from the backup (plus system state)

3. full database recovery basing on the last SAP offline backup under sapdba - result: successfull I can open and manage database under sapdba and Oracle tools

4. But....when I am trying to start sap the message server fails with following errors (dev_ms)

trc file: "dev_ms", trc level: 1, release: "46D"

If anybody have tried to restore SAP system in this way ?

How can I get more information about the message server error (maybe a different log file) ?

just restore the file

%windir%\system32\drivers\etc\services

from your system backup to the same directory on the new machine.

Thanks ...............it works. I have not supposed that full system disk restore with system state options doesn't change the file.

Thanks again.
