In you PC with WEB AS > 6.20, Why do you require the Java Web Start?
a) To start Integration Directory
b) Starting XI
c) JDK 1.4 is installed
d) Caching of server files onto the local client machine

to start IR and ID you require Java Web start.
To start IR and ID ur local system needs server files.java web start do that.

About 2, Not complete XI but IR and ID
About 3, JDK1.4 is installed on the client system to get the Java Webstart capabilities

ans.) All are correct
XI IR & ID are thick clients developed in Java which communicate with the XI server using EJB based communication and Java web start makes it possible to download / cache them and trigger point to run them.
