Oracle installation error on Linux Suse 10

Former Member

I am trying to install SolutionManager 4.0 on Linux SuSE 10.

I downloaded the Oracle RBDMS binaries from /swdc. The SAP's description of the binaries is "DVD ORACLE RDBMS 10.2 LINUX_X86_64 [1,2,3,4] of 4". The description does not mention the version of SuSE.

During the installation of Solution Manager, I was prompted to install the RDBMS using the runinstaller. The Oracle's runinstaller fails saying the binaries are for redhat 3, redhat 4, suse 9. The error message does not have suse 10 listed.

Does anyone know where I can download the RDBMS for SuSe 10 or if there some other way to fix the problem.

Thanks.

First, you need to run RUNINSTALLER (in capitals) in the SAP directory, do NOT use the standard runInstaller from Oracle.

Second, check

Note 980426 - Oracle 10.2 Software installation on new operating systems

and use the "Workaround 1" mentioned in that note to install on SuSE SLES 10.

Thanks. The explanation in the Note helped.

I used Workaround 3, as suggested in the Note.
