Hi, does anybody know if I need to implement WM module to use RFID and bar codes, or this is not necessary?

Thanks in advance,

WM is not compulsory to be implemented to use RFID and barcodes.

SAP has defined standard scenarios that can be implemented with SAP AII & SAP R/3 systems. The mode of communication between these systems is through delivery (outbound & inbound) documents via XI.

Refer to the configuraion guides available at service.sap.com/scm

This will give you an idea on how the solution is configured.

WM usage depends on your business requirement but in general scenarios delivered by SAP it is not required.

In some scnario's. Barcode ( Any Ref number) for Pallets may be generated in WM systems. Once the barcode is generated the Packing Asset's EPC will have the barcode (ref number) encoded in it as the serial number.

All cases (EPC with lower filter values) can be packed against this Packing Asset EPC (which has ref number generated in WM)

this can serve benefits like... All cases can be aggregated against the Ref Number generated in WM. This helps to automatically reduce inventory from Warehouse once PGI and Pack Confirmation reaches to WM from (R/3 & AII) against the ref Number.

So if Document Management being done in Combination of ( WM & R/3) then having WM makes better. WM can be connected only to R/3 and need not talk to AII.

Pl clarify the scnario you are using.
