Hi Jenni,

normally you do cache refresh when for some specific reasons something you have changed in the Design is not transported at runtime (CPA cache) or if something in the repository is not transported (SXI cache).

Normally you do not do cache refresh until you do not notice a problem or a wrong allineation between runtime and design time.

We have never done any cache refresh in the productive environment (running since 1.5 years) as we never noticed a misallineation.

A cache refresh could only slow down something that is already running as it force the system to reload the cache.

Normally on what situations wrong allineation between runtime and design time will happen? Any perfect example? How to overcome that?

Thank you

Hi Jenni,

for instance if there is a connection problem while you try to activate an object in IR or ID.

You can notice this because of the red light in "cache notification" from the menu of IR or ID.

You can solve this via transaction SXI_CACHE or refreshing CPA cache.

For this, I suggest you to have a look at <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/1a69ea11-0d01-0010-fa80-b47a79301290">How to Handle Caches in SAP XI 3.0</a>
