Parameter Setting to reset SAP* and DDIC

Former Member

Hi,

How do i check parameter login/no_automatic_user_sapstar which should be set to 0 or 1 in order to reset password of sap* to pass.

I will be using the below query to delete and create sap* user in command prompt

DELETE SAP<SID>.usr02 where mandt='CLIENT.NO' and bname=SAP*.

In forums i have got that this parameter setting is in usr\sap\SBX\SYS\profile.

However i am not able to find this in the files which exists in profile folder.

Thanks

Hi parvez,

As much as I know, when you install WAS 7.00 the default of the parameter

login/no_automatic_user_sapstar =1, so you can't login with sap* and pass

password.

You can see your current value of the parameter in: rz10 -> goto -> profile values -> of a server.

Dimitry,

We have WAS 6.40 ECC5.0 the default value of login/no_automatic_user_sapstar is showing as 0 and active value is also 0 in rz10 -> goto -> profile values -> of a server.

Does this mean that i can delete sap* from command prompt and after restarting the system sap* will get cretaed with password pass.

Thanks

Dear Parvez,

If the active value is 0 so you can delete the user and you don't even need to

restart the system. All you need is to delete the user from USR02 from specific

client and try to enter that client with SAP* and pass.

I hope this helped.

Dimitry,

Thanks for the help. Know I am able to login to the system with SAP* and pass. I have also changes password for DDIC.

However when I go through SU01 and serach for SAP* it shows up in user by profile. However it does not allow me to change password gives error USER SAP* does not exist. Do I need to create USER MASTER record for the same.

Thanks,

Hello Parvez,

Please check the said parameter (DEFAULT.PFL) in RZ10 also.

Or else set the parameter in DEFAULT.PFL

Additionally also check (SAP Notes 2383 and 68048) for further reference!

Santosh,

In RZ10 if I select DEFAULT profile and Extended maintanence following parameters are displayed with there parameter values.

SAPSYSTEMNAME

SAPDBHOST

rdisp/mshost

rdisp/accept_remote_trace_level

rdisp/sna_gateway

rdisp/sna_gw_service

rslg/collect_daemon/listen_port

rslg/collect_daemon/talk_port

rdisp/bufrefmode

ms/server_port_0

dbs/ora/tnsname

Do I need to set the parameter here by selecting Display Change <-> and then Create Parameter.

Also will it apply to all Clients within that system.

Thanks
