I am donying an upgrade from Oracle 9.2.0.7 to 10.0.2.0. It's SAP Solution Manger 3.6 . Now I have done mos steps of upgrading. When I try the $ R3trans -d, I got failed messages. Here is the trans.log file, can any one help me???

Hello,

"ORA_NLS33=/oracle/client/920_64/ocommon/nls/admin/data"

It appears to me that the parameter above is not correct. Please replace the 920_64 above with 92x_64

The Oracle 10 client that you have installed is only for running brtools version 7.00 that are needed in Oracle 10g. Your SAP system ( and sidadm user from which you are running the R3trans -d command) are still using Oracle client 9 simply because your SAP kernel is built using Oracle 9.

So, please change your parameter above to be

ORA_NLS33=/oracle/client/92x_64/ocommon/nls/admin/data

Then exit from the sidadm account, login again and check with the env command

env | grep NLS33

that the change has taken effect. You then have to execute R3trans -d

If this still doesn't work, go to /oracle/client as orasid user, create directory 92x_64 (if it is not already there) and copy in that directory the Oracle client 9.2.0.7 or 9.2.0.8 file . Let me know if you need help to locate this file in the SAP service marketplace

Then extract is with SAPCAR -xvf OCL92064.SAR

Try R3trans -d again as sidadm , it should work

Andreas, Thanks a lot. Your comment does work. After I changed it to

ORA_NLS33=/oracle/client/92x_64/ocommon/nls/admin/data

But I got new problems. Because I changed the password of PSMXSM by using sqlplus. I couldn't start R3trans. Now I try to use brtools change back the password. But it's failed. Maybe it's another issue, but please help me.

Ensure that the ORANLS10 variable in orasid user is correctly set. It should be

ORA_NLS10=/oracle/SID/102_64/nls/data

Ensure that link instantclient -> instantclient_10202 exists

under /oracle/client/10x_64

Ensure that your permisions are right for the brtools

Thank you for you suggestion. I checked it.All you mentioned points have no problemd. Please take a look. In this case I am tring to upgrade a oracle 9.0.2.7 to oracle 10.2.0.2 in a testing environment which runing solotion manager. But after I finished the oracle upgrading. I can't start the SAP, R3trans -d. I think this case is very helpful for me to understand deeply in SAP. Hope you can give me more help.

I almost forget what I am doing now. At first i update the oracle from 9.2.0.7 to 10.2.0.0. After finished upgrading, I tried to use R3trans -d, it tells me "***LOG BY0=>ORA-01017: invalid username/password; "

Then I tried to use brtools to recorrect the password. But brtools tell me "ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified". I tried to correct it by finding "setenv ORA_NLS33 oracle/client/92x_64/ocommon/nls/admin/data".

Now brtools tells me "SQL error -942 at location BrLicCheck-32 ORA-00942: table or view does not exist"

I almost get crazy. Because after I fixed a problem, I will get a new one. What to do next? I will give up, reinstall a new fresh "solution manager" in my testing environment. Any ideas?

Don't worry, we will find out what is wrong, there is always a logical explanation!

In the logs you sent me, I noticed

It looks to me that you have not updated your brconnect executable. You have to make sure that it is version 7.0 patch 28 as well and not 6.40 patch 15.

Also, brtools should be owned by orapsm:dba and not psmadm:sapsys. In the list you sent me below, I see that brtools is owned by psmadm:sapsys. Please change it to orapsm:dba . Then please try again . Run brtools as the orapsm user

Andreas, Thank you so much. The problem is the brconnect's version.

Yes, The brconnect is an old version. Because in the upgrade notes, it only mentioned that I need to upgrade the brtools to 7.0 version. After I upgraded the brconnect to 7.0, it can change the password. Erverthing seem working fine now. Again thank you for your help!!!

1) After I copy the new brconnect file, I got this:
