referred to synonym materials for material determination?

Your question is not clear. What do you mean by synonym materials???

Synonym was a term used several years ago to describe other materials
that could be sold in place of ones that the customer requested. It doesn't sound like a term used anymore. I'm looking for help on how VB13 works in relation
to a cross reference of:
Customer Material # ---> Base Material -
> Suffix / Synonym Material
