Hi All,
We are having major swap space issues on some of our Servers. We have applied Kernel DB6-640-64-AIX5-UCP-0175.
For example one of our systems has 8Gb memory and 20Gb swap space with one SAP instance. It was running okay for a while but now it reaches 20gb very quickly and jumps within 5mins from 1% to 80% usage. Of course after it hits 95% AIX starts killing processes. When we look at what is using the swap space it is all the disp+work processes.
We have increase the paging space to 40gb but now it is using 23gb.
We had a smilar problem another to systems.
How much swap space is normal? Is there something we can change to reduce this.?
We only have 15 DIA, 3 BGD, 3 BGD, 2 SPO.
Thanks for help from anyone.
Derek
Hi,
You might want to check notes bellow for possible resolution of the problem :
921196 AIX Memory Tuning Recommendations >5.2
78498 High paging rate on AIX servers, in part. Database servers
902952 AIX: Paging even though sufficient free memory
912425 AIX: Unexplained high memory consumption
856848 AIX Extended Memory Disclaiming
Hope this helps,
George
