what is the meaning of reward points?

Hi Saso,

When you post a question and get answers for your questions from others, you can reward them for their work/help with whatever points you like.You can reward them for their answers with 2 points or 6 points or 10 points.If your problem got solved with a person's answer you can reward them with 10 points.

For example:

Now you have posted this question and I am answering you. If you like my answer you can reward some points of your interest to me.

Yes, I understand how to give points. My question is, what do you need points, what is the meaniang of those points?
