Diff between MCOD and NONMCOD

Hi folks,

can anyone of u help me out for selecting exiting database -Multiple component in one database (MCOD) or Non-MCOD type of database for my BW-3.5 installation

where i am using oracle-10.2.0.2.

plz tell me as per performance wise which would be suitable.

Hi

MCOD is recommended for non-production systems. Basically it is only one DB server but multiple instances/schemas.

- You have to take backup for full DB server with all instances. There is not instance/schema backup as such.

- If you have to recover, then recovering will be done to all instances, which means loss of data

- Any maintenance to one server will effect all other servers

THANKS for ur quick response now i am able to understand concept behind MDOC,In my poject we r upgrading our previous BW-3.5 version to BI-7.0.

for that first we r installing bw-3.5 for doing some test cases n we r not dealing any other sap system that's why i think better to go for Non-MCOD.

PLZ suggest me here...............

ranjan,

you say you are upgrade BW 3.5... but also want to install 3.5.

this is not clear at all!

unless you wanted to have 2 BW 3.5 systems. still, avoid MCOD.

MCOD is a pain in the neck. yes, it works, but you are also putting your eggs in the same basket.

it is much better an easier to manage if you use one instance per database.
