Hi Priti,

For Unarchiving the Repository, the you should follow the following Steps:

You have started your database server (such as SQL Server) and in MDM Console you have mounted and started the MDM Server.

The predefined catalog repository should be stored in the Archives folder of the MDM Server installation directory.

For example:

a2a file should be stored on C:\Program Files\SAP MDM 5.5\Server\Archives.

Then right click on MDM Server, you will find a function as “Unarchive Repository”.

Then select the server name and enter login Id and password of your server then click on next.

Then you can enter the repository name whatever you want and select the archive file from the given list and click on finish. Now your repository will be archive.

I hope, this will help you.

Hi Priti,

you should see the name: "InQuera_Demo_5.5_060227".

Maybe you have selected another Archive path. Try the following steps:

1.) Archive any repository you have created and mounted. (for example give the archivename: "archivetest"

2.) Search in windows explorer for that archive name you gave (e.g.: archivetest.a2a). It's important that you search with the ending "a2a".

3.) Now you should see the path where your archives are stored.

Hope this helps

created in the windows explorer.I have also archived the repository.

Hi,

you can check the mds.ini file to see, where the archives are located. Go to the path you installed the MDM Server, There is a file called mds.ini. Open it with right click and open with notepad. there you sould find the entry:

Report Dir=C:\SAPMDM~1.5\Server\Reports\

<b>Archive Dir=C:\SAPMDM~1.5\Server\Archives\</b>

Distribution Root Dir=D:\SAPMDM~1.5\Server\Distributions\

...

Maybe the archive files are stored on another server ?

Hi Frederik,

Yes you are right!

When I checked the log , I got the path as

C:\PROGRA1\SAPMDM1.5\Server\Archives\Case Study Archive.a2a

Could you please tell me how to access this path?

Hm,

you have the right path... you can access it in the explorer by C:\Program Files\SAP MDM 5.5\Server\Archives\Case Study Archive.a2a

Maybe your folder options are that you can't see all objects. Can you check that?

Hi Frederik,

I cannot see the file even in the following path :

C:\Program Files\SAP MDM 5.5\Server\Archives\Case Study Archive.a2a

I checked my folder options also they are ok.

When I archived my repository "Case Study" I got status as "Loaded running",

can you let me know the final status.

The status is juring the job: loaded running| Jibs: archiving

and the final status is: loaded running| Jibs: archiving (Complete) and you get a popup with the message: The XXXXXX Repository was successfully archived. Do you want to see a details report?

Hi Frederik,

Yes, I got the message : Do you want to see a details report?

That means archiving was done succesfully.

Inspite of that the file is not present in path C:\Program Files\SAP MDM 5.5\Server\Archives

Do you have any idea where the file could be?

Just to reply:

1.) in the mds.ini and in the logfile you have the same path

2.) in the folder options it is set to see all objects and unhide all systemfiles

3.) you have done a archive in mdm server and you can't see in the explorer the a2a file

4.) the server, DBMS and the clients are on the same workstation

Puh now i don't have any more ideas where the problem could be, even if you get the message, that the fiel was created. I think the file is anywhere, but not where you think it is, but how to find it know is the problem...

I think i can't help you anymore... Sorry

Hi Frederik,

Actually I was looking at the Windows Explorer of Presentation Server

which I had logged in remotely from my frontend.

Hence, I was not able to see the a2a files.

Then I connected with
<hostname>\Archives and was able to see all the

a2a files.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Priti,

As i said you in the above reply; the problem was with the system. You should make sure where the server either local or remote. Any ways now you solved the problem.

hi priti,

you just check out, where you have copied the a2a file.you have to paste this on MDM server directory not on your system MDM directory.

if you have done this then surely you can find the repository name without .a2a extention( InQuera_Demo_5.5_060227 ).

Hope this will help you.

Hi Priti,

I dont think it should give you error at the first instance, but just check wether you are using the same local or remote server. In other case just try and rename the .a2a file and check it. check the repository list properly. it should be there.

Hi Priti,

Check the server log files in the console.

It normally takes few seconds for the repository to appear on the console.
