impact of change FORMATTING_MODE to SERIAL

hi,

i have a system, with 5 volumes, but all volumes at same device, and i cant change that, then, is true to say that is better i change the FORMATTING_MODE parameter from PARALLEL to SERIAL, what can be the impact of this change?

Clóvis,

with FORMATTING_MODE set to SERIAL you'll have a slightly faster initialization of the data and log volumes during activation of the database. But FORMATTING_MODE is just relevant for the initialization/activation of the database, it does not influence the performance during runtime.
