NW EP 6 SP11 Sneak Preview Installation Probelm

Hi All,

I have tried all the possible ways of installing it. I got fed up and i made a clean installation of Win XP Pro and then i tried to install NW EP 6.0 sp11. But still i am struck at the same step 18 (Load Java Database Instance). I dont know what the probelm is??? DId anyone face the same problem???

SAPinst is getting started.

For what it's worth here is my story:

1. Installed NW EP 6 SP11 Sneak Preview (downloaded on Sep 16) on a system on time zone GMT-5 (Eastern Time). Got the missing SAPOsCol message right at the beginning of the install.

2. Acording to suggestions on SDN I uninstalled NW EP 6 SP11 and deleted the J2E database (not sapdb!)

3. Set my system to GMT+1 and ran the NW EP 6 SP11 install again. Got the missing SAPOsCol message again. No evidence that changinf the time zone helps.

4. Looked into my service. Found SAPOsCol NOT running and set to manual. started SAPOsCol and set to automatic.

5. Can connect to http://localhost:50000 and bring up the portal etc.

Hi O,

SAP fixed the Timezone problem in the latest downloads (I think from Sep 1st). So, you shouldn't get any problem with the timezone anymore.

Check your windows services... by now, there should be a service called SapOScol.

If so {

Start the service.

start the installer again...

}

Hi Armin,

Thanks, but that was not the problem. I found a work around for this problem in SDN. Start a fresh installation by setting the timezone to GMT+1 (Amsterdam), enable day light savings and the installation goes smooth. After the installation switch back to ur timezone.

Is it allright to start the installer without uninstalling NW EP 6 SP11? What's going to happen?

I assume uninstalling NW EP 6 SP11 would also remove the service in question.

uninstal will not remove the services it stop the service from automatic to manual, even if u start also it wont start, for removing services u need to go for "registry", here u need to remove
