My question is about planning area status.
I created new planning area, saved data, tha status of my new planning area is red.
What should be done to activate planning area?
The status of the planning area should be green?
Thank you in advance,
Kind reagrds,

right click on the planning area and choose"create time series objects"
enter planning version (eg 000) enter values for "dates from" and "date to" and execute to initialize
the Planning area should be green

Hi!
Thank you for your answer!
One more question.
To create time series objects, characteristic combinations should exist for planning object structure.
So I go to create characteristic combinations.
For my Planning Object Structure I select Create manually.
Then I select values for characteristics then, I execute generation of combinations system returns message:
"Planning object has not been created
Message no. /SAPAPO/TSM042"
What else settings should be done to generate characteristic combinations?
Thank you in advance,
Kind regards,
Maria Kazakova
Hi Maria,
Yes, you need characteristic value combinations to initialize a planning area.
If you want to create CVC's first you need to activate the planning object structure, then right click on it and select Create CVC's here you can create CVC's manually or based on a file or an infocube.
I hope this can help you.
Regards.
Marín.
Looks like you have not activated your POS. Right click on the POS and activate
your planning area will not be activated till your CVC has some values
In order to activate your planning area you can create some dummy CVC value
go to /sapapo/mc62 and choose your POS and the option "create manually" with the create time series objects option check on
enter any value say A in all cells and create the CVC
Now you can activate your planning area
you normally generate CVC from a infocube or a work list
Hi!
My Planning object Structure is active.
For the Planning Object Structure the parameter 'Characteristic Based Forecasting' is set. When I try to create CVC system returns an error "Planning object has not been created" Message no. /SAPAPO/TSM042.
For another POS for which the parameter 'Characteristic Based Forecasting' in switched off system creates CVC.
Do you know why system doesn't create CVC for POS for Characteristic Based Forecasting?
Thank you in advance,
Kind regards,
Maria Kazakova
CBF will add the following char automatically
9AMATNR APO Product
9AMV_PROF CBF Profile
9AMV_ROW Char.-Based Fcst:Row
9AMV_TAB CBF Table
of this 9AMATNR is the one that needs to be created as part of the combination
Hope you have materials created in the product master.
So try to create a combination with a real 9AMATNR value
if you go to create char combination maually option can you choose any material using the drop down?
Hi!
Yes, I have materials created in the product master.
I try to create a combination with a real value for 9AMATNR.
In the manual creation of CVC I choose product from the drop down list.
I execute creation, system returns the message "Planning object has not been created" Message no. /SAPAPO/TSM042.
Nothing changes, I'm still not able to create Time Series Objects for planning area.
Thanks,
Ragards,

Hello Maria -
Do you have the following setting
"The product must have requirements strategy 30 Planning Without Final Assembly (Demand tab page for the location product). This prevents production orders for the final product from being created, but generates dependent requirements for the components."
then you need to follow these steps
1) You create a planning object structure and planning area. See Creation of Planning Areas and Planning Books for Use in CBF.
2) You create CBF tables and profiles. See Settings for CBF in APO.
3)You then create characteristic value combinations as in Demand Planning.
Hope this might be of help.
