help with SAP xMII

I am an SAP XI developer,I am entirely new to SAP xMII,

what is exactly SAP xMII ,

are there similarities between XI and xMII

Hi

XI is for factory/ system level integration tool for SAP to SAP, SAP to Non SAP, B2B, Application to Application etc...

xMII for Shop floor integration and mainly for MES, it is based on real time, accurate date and faster. Basically it is good for decision making and Management purpose.

SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) is SAP's enterprise application integration (EAI) software, a component of the NetWeaver product group used to facilitate the exchange of information among a company's internal software and systems and those of external parties. Like other NetWeaver components, SAP XI is compatible with software products of other companies.

SAP calls XI an integration broker because it mediates between entities with varying requirements in terms of connectivity, format, and protocols. According to SAP, XI reduces integration costs by providing a common repository for interfaces. The central component of SAP XI is the SAP Integration Server, which facilitates interaction between diverse operating systems and applications across internal and external networked computer systems.

xMII is part of xApps an SAP AG product in the NetWeaver suite. Allen Davis a NetWeaver xMII expert has successfully used Six Sigma scenarios as information in real time from shop floor control systems and used in plant quality control lab experimental tests. The technology has been applied to a wide range of industries and applications. It supports SAP's adaptive manufacturing strategy. It has evolved from technology acquired when SAP purchased Lighthammer in 2005.

While not an MES it is typically used to link a shop floor system with an ERP and provide portals to information from plant floor applications and systems.

Nope SAP-XI is much different from SAP-xMII.

with SAP-xMII, you can leverage advanced Web server technology to extract data from multiple data sources, aggregate the data at the server, transform it into a business context, and personalize and deliver results to users.
