BI & XMII - authorization error

Former Member

I am trying to use BI as my source for XMII and have followed procedure outlined in the how to guide ...BI intergration.

In Query template, I selected "Query" mode for the OLAP query , selected tab " OLAP QUERY DETAILS" .

On tab " Olap Query Details" , on all the windows of this screen it displays a message " Authorization required" and also locks my BW userid .

I am thinking, I have to allow authorization on the BW Roles but not sure which object.

Any ideas ? Thanks.

Hitesh

Hi Hitesh

To get connected with BI, u need to use Business Logic Services (BLS), where u can use an action called <b>SAP JCo Interface</b> under the section SAP ERP Interface.

Here the SAP JCo Interface action creates a connection via the Java Connector (JCo) interface to the defined SAP server and makes an RFC request. The RFC request is an XML document. Data may be linked to the XML request document in order to customize the request.

Don't get confused since BI is different from SAP ERP, also BI can be connected using SAP JCo Interface, if u configure the authentic connection details in the action. Remember to configure the BI server in SAP Server Configuration under the section Data Services in the SAP xMII Menu.

Hi Som,

Thanks for your reply. I have already connected to the BI system via JCO. My main issue is when I am trying to build the MDX query after selection of the mode "Query" for OLAP query type.

On trying further last week, I am now getting "No data available" on all the <u>sections of the window</u> , on the "OLAP QUERY DETAILS" tab .

Any ideas ?

Hitesh,

The 'No Data Available' error message displayed in the template editor implies that a fatal error occurred when attempting to namespace browse the cubes, dimensions, and measures to populate the listboxes in the editor query details tab.

The browser's Sun...Java Console should show you the full error message and the General Log, which is accessible from the Menu.jsp, will give you full error messages relating to the problem. These are the places to look for more information and to eliminate the guesswork.

Since the MDX connection is not a maintained pool connection like you have with database connections, the connection status window will not confirm your connection information and credentials. I would suggest following the nature of the error messages in the logs and reconfirming the Data Server settings.

Regards,
