what is gentran server.?normal my scenarios is idoc to edi.what ever data i am getting in text mode?if my documentation are there please help me?

Gentran sever is basically used to create Mapping between source and target..

GENTRAN is an EDI subsystem.
we use it when we need to interface with EDI systems.
in general either XI with EDI adapter or Gentran can be used.
in EDI and SAP systems interfacing scenarion,IDOCS are used on SAP side either sending IDOCs or receiving IDOCs from and to SAP respectively.
GENTRAN server comes with Application integration tool which is used to develop maps between EDI to IDOC or IDOC to EDI structure.
EDI documents are received from VAN and GENTRAN server is configured to receive those documents and even to send those documents.
