Hi Folks,

I am new to SAP Document Management System......

I have few doubts like..

1. Is EasyDMS a part of ECC 6.0 ?Do we need to purchase it separately as a package ?

2. How to configure Easy DMS ?

Is there any configuration or installation guide available for this purpose...

Currently i am working on ECC 6.0...

Hi 2 All,

Apart from the above silly doubts few others cropping in my mind are :

What is a KPRO .Is it a service in DMS or A Software which needs to be downloaded separately or configure from SAP ? How to use KPRO ?How to install KRPO ? Do we need to download it from service.sap.com?...etc

What is HTTP content server ? How to install HTTP content server...? Does it require any web server for running the service..?

Hi Santosh,

KPRO and HTTP Content Server are possible storage methods for your data. You can configure them in SPRO under the Document Management tree.

KPRO stores the information in SAP Database and HTTP is an external storage solution that serves the data over http.

The storage concept is very flexible to configure, whether you have a separate machine, use the same, over the internet... so I can't give you a short description of how to configure. But it's well documented! Just read the SAP help that is provided on Marketplace and in SPRO, I was able to configure it with these ressources, they are very helpful.

In very short you have to setup a "Content Repository" and "Category". I used the database of the SAP System as Repository with a separate Tablespace and defined a category, that's it!

Hi,

Easy DMS is a client Software to view Documents "in Windows Style". You can download Easy DMS from the SAP Service Marketplace (actuall version: 6.00 SP 07 patch 01).

Configuration:

- You need a user with RFC Authorizations (because thats what easy dms does: calling remote funtions in the backend)

- There are a lot of Zxxxx FMs available (search for Easy DMS in the marketplace) to expand the functions of Easy DMS, but I think most of them are already implemented in ECC 6.0

There is a installation guide in the download file.

To download Easy DMS go to https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/support -> Downloads -> SAP Software Distribution Center -> Download -> Support Packages and Patches -> Search for Support Packages and Patches. Search for Easy DMS.

Hi Santosh,

Easy DMS is an alternative user interface for the SAP Document System (DMS) and integrates the SAP DMS in the Microsoft File Explorer. It can be used together with SAP ECC 6.0, but also with older SAP releases.

As a SAP customer you can download Easy DMS from the SAP service marketplace: service.sap.com -> Software download -> Installation and Upgrades -> Entry by Application group -> Supplementary Components... -> Life-cycle data management -> SAP Easy document management.
