Different pricing for different projects / reasons

Former Member

Hi,

I have a requirement where a customer is charged a different price for the same product depending on the nature of project he is buying the product for e.g. if he buys a film for commercial purpose he will be charged a higher price while if he buys it for making a documentary, he will be charged a lower price for the same film. Is there a way to make this happen in SAP ? Can 'Order reason' be used to have the pricing different ?

A prompt response will be highly appreciated and rewarded.

Thanks!

Hi Sonal,

This can be done in SAP.

While creating a sales order, we have a provision to maintaine some special discounts based on some categories.

In the sales order, goto -> Header -> Addition Data A

Here we can use these fields for our requirements.

You can maintaine additonal data for pricing, you can maintaine price groups like Commercial Film and Documentary Film.

You can maintaine condition types for these and maintane condition records for thise like for commecial - no discount or less disocount, for documentary high discounts.

And while creating a sales order, after giving all the required outputs like sold to , ship to, material, quanitity. you can goto -> header -> additonal data A, and select the necessary price group.

Automatically that disocount willbe applied and the price will be changed accordingly.

Hope this may give some idea.

Hi Sonal,

Do not go with the order reason as this is a header level field. It is possible to enter the same material twice once for Commercial purpose and the other one for Documentary. In such case you would have a problem or maybe you should enter the order separately.

Check out the field Usage (VKAUS) in the Sales A tab of the order document. This might help you.

Hi Nadarajah,

If I consider the simplest case of having only 1/many materials in the order, all being bought for the same project, in that case is it ok to use the Order reason field? Please let me know the reasons why it is not an appropriate field.

Thanks!

Hi,

Yes it is possible in SAP.

Basically your requirement can be mapped to different divisions(in Sales area).

Commerical sales-> say sales area 001-CS-FM

Documentary sales -> say sales area 001-DS-FM

And you could assign different pricing procedures to these sales areas. And different condition records. And your requirment can be acheived.

>'Order reason' be used to have the pricing different ?

It is not suggested to used 'Order reason' for pricing when we have better options, one of them suggested above.

Hope this helps.

Hi Yathish,

Thanks for the suggestion but in this case, we have only one sales area and new ones cant be added. Thus, I have only one pricing procedure (common for all pprojects) and am looking for options to accomodate this pricing in the same.
