ESS Enhancement in JDI at CMS Consolidation

Former Member

Hi,

I have activated and released the ESS_Dev track after completed the ESS enhancement. Now the ESS_Dev track is in the CMS Consolidation. At this moment, there are ESS and MSS track in the Assembly tab.

What are the following steps to transport it to the QA and subsequently to the Production?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Julius,

if you just have 3 runtime systems, you can ignore the consolidation step i.e., you need not specify the QA system as runtime system for both the consolidation and Test stages.

You can move your transports from Dev to Test ignoring the consolidation system ofcouse once you release your activities, they will show up in the consolidation step waiting for import. You can ignore that.

Hope this helps.

Hi Julius,

1. The two SC's (ESS and MSS), after your initial configuration must be waiting for assembly. If you want to move both ESS and MSS to Test system, then assemble both of them. Else if you want to just move ESS sc, then select the ESS software component from the "select component" drop down box and assemble it. (But since you are importing this for the first time, assemble both the scs)

2. The .sca file will be created at the file system level once the assembly is successful.

Good luck

Hi Laxmi,

Just to confirm somethng. In CMS -> Runtime Systems tab, there are 4 runtime systems to be selected, ie, Development, Consolidation, Test and Production.

Meanwhile, we have Development, QA and Production server.

For the time-being, our configuration is as below:

Development (Runtime system) --> pointing to development server.

Consolidation (Runtime system) -> pointing to QA server.

Test (Runtime system) -> pointing to QA server.

Production (Runtime system) -> pointing to Production server.

Is it the correct configuration? If not, what should it be?

Thanks.

Hi Julius,

After the import to consolidation is done, you will have to go to the Assembly step.

In the assembly step, you can select the component that you want to assemble. Once the assembly is done, a .sca file is created and you can see the component waiting for import into the Test system.

Then you can import to Test system, then approve it and then import it to production.

Hope this helps.

Hi MLS,

Thanks for ur answer. A little confused here.

In ur answer,

"In the assembly step, you can select the component that you want to assemble. Once the assembly is done, a .sca file is created and you can see the component waiting for import into the Test system."

1. There are another 2 tracks, ie, ESS (original track) and MSS in the Assembly. There were createad there during the set up of the JDI following the JDI ESS Cookbook. Is there any purpose of leaving the 2 tracks there? Should i do anything with it?

2. Where will i see the .sca file created?

Thanks.
