How to secure WDA over an external facing portal

Former Member

Hi,

we would like to use WDA in an external facing portal environment but I don't like the idea of "direct" backend usage through the iview.

Somebody told me, routing that iview through another portal (federated portal concept) would be a good idea.

Has anyone done this yet? Any ideas, suggestions, papers to read?

Thanks very much in advance.

Axel

I think that SAP Web Dispatcher is the right component for you.

Have a look to http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/42/5cfd3b0e59774ee10000000a114084/content.htm

It works really fine...

I have this same kind of requirement, but my problem is the URL in the WDA application. It points to my R3 and I can't change it. We have configured HTTPURLLOC with the server and port we want to use, but WDA doesn't use it automatically (strangely, BW automatically used the HTTPURLLOC entries). Do I need to add code to my WDA application so that it will use the HTTPURLLOC entries to override the URL?

... thanks a lot for your suggestion, Sergio.

Our system landscape is:

ext. user -> [ Webdispatcher ] -> ext. Portal -> Backend Systems

and somebody told me that we need to have (for secure WDA over portal)

ext. user -> [ Webdispatcher ] -> ext. Portal -> Another Portal (federated portal concept) -> Backend systems

while [ ] is a DMZ.

Or is that not useful after all? Thanks in advance. Axel

Reverse/Proxy: "that is the question"...

R/P is supported by any portal?
