Hi Gurus,
We are planning to move from ECC5.0 to ECC6.0 also we are have Solution Manager 4.0.
Do we need to upgrade SM to another version.
Also even if we do move to ECC 6.0 do we need to upgrade SM.
What are the initial steps we need to take is there any Note for this on Service MarketPlace or what type of OSS message do we need to raise with SAP support.
You can get all useful information from the link
http://service.sap.com/diagnostics
SMD is part of SAP Solution Manager 4.0.
For earlier versions of SAP Solution Manager, SMD is shipped as part of NetWeaver. It is available with NW04 Support Package 11 or higher. This is a pre-delivery of the new functionality.

Madhu
P.S. Award points graciously to keep up the good work

Madhu,
Thanks for all your answers. As you mentioned that after we apply SP09 for Solution Manager 4.0 we can get Solution Manager maintenance optimizer through some configuration steps.
Can you please let me know how when we get Solution Manager Diagnostics as it is part of Solution Manager 4.0
Hi
For Maintenance Optmizer:
- Only those patches releases after April 2007 needs to be download via Maintenance Optimizer
- SolMan 4.0 SP09 will get the Maintenance Optimizer functionality. However there is a configuration step.. If you are at SPO9, Call Transaction SPRO, choose SAP Reference IMG -> SAP Solution Manager Implementation Guide -> SAP Solution Manager -> Basic Settings -> Set Up Maintenance Optimizer
The configuration guide is located at http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000235502007E

hi
SM 4.0 is the latest.. But you need to go to latest patch levels for the following reasons:
- From April 2007 onwards all support packages of NW04s and SAP Buisiness Suite 2005 are accessing via Solution Manager's Maintainence Optimizer
- Get the advantage of Solution Manager Diagnostics, which has not just monitoring capabilities but it can also identify the Root cause of an incident.

Madhu,
Thanks for the update. I would like to know all the support packages if we want to apply now which were available before April 2007 would we require Solution Manager's Maintainence Optimizer or can be applied as normal.
Also what is Solution Manager Diagnostics is it another system which we will have to purchase or is it available with our Solution manager and we have to apply some patch to access it.
Hello Parvez,
The Sol Man 4.0 is the latest one what you can do is you can have it with latest SP applied to it.
The version which you have is contemprory one.
To work better with ECC 6.0 you may have to apply some support packs to it.
Thanks & Regards
Vivek
