hi,
XD01 - is used to create a customer centrally ie he is available for comp code as well sales area.
FD01 - is basically used by FI to add company code specific data as sales data cannot be accessed thru this.
VD01 - opposite to the FI, the SD people can add sales area data and cannot access company code data.
The idea of using these t.codes is to provide SD and FI with required access only to the customer master.

XD01----> To creat customer centrally by useing company code and salesa area data
VD01----> Only for SD you enter sales area data to creat customer
FD01--> Only for FI by useing company code data

XDO1 is maintaining customer record centrally i.e data in general view - sales view and accounting view can be maintained in CMR
vd01-- general view and sales view
fd01- general view and accounting view

XD01 to create the customer centrally ( across all modules). you have to enter company code as well as Sales area to create this customer.
VD01 to create customer in SD Module. You have to enter sales area only to create a customer.
FD01 to create customer in Fi Module. You have to enter company code only to create a customer
