Hi,
for 2) direct material works like an ext. classic scenario. However it is not exactly the same since ECS could have accounting assignment where direct material excluded that.
for 3) Local purchasing grp is mandatory for direct material and ECS scenario. Other than that, it is not required. The user can exists anywhere in the org structure as long as a responsible P.Org and Grp have been assigned for that user.

Hi deb,
1. where is your issue with the Porg Information for local PO? The information
is derived from the the requisition / sc. In ECS you can set that the backend POrgs are relevant, so the same information is taken. You also can define local POrgs which then manage the local POs.
2. without a local POrga and PGroup it is not possible to push R/3 requisitions
without any account assignment = direct material reqs up to SRM. It is
mandatory.
Cheers,
Claudia
Hi deb,
1. yes. the information is taken from the req or sc; also from sourcing done in SRM
as well by determination who is responsible for the product category.
2. by standard yes
3. yes; a local Pgroup needs to be assigned to a local POrg. These entries are
needed for all requirements witout any account assignment coming e.g. from
MRP run.
In comparrison, an entry channel is used for moving of external requirements.
This can be basically placed somewhere is the Org Model.
Cheers,
Claudia
