Hi Experts,
I am working in IDES ECC 6.0 on my home PC. I am unable to see the layout in the view.
The URL in my WDT_QUIZ is like :
http://eccserver6.domain.com:8000/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zxy_web1
and in the host file in my PC c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
i gave 10:230:89:290 http://eccserver6.domain.com eccserver6.domain.com
but its not working.
Can someone please help me out with this.
Thanks
Dany
Make sure that the services required are activated in transaction SICF.
See this help for more info.

Right, so then you need to check that the services in SICF are activated. I don't think you need to put anything in the hosts file in your PC. You need to do the config which is described in the link that I provided above and the SAP notes that it mentions.
I had this same problem with my newly created sandbox system, and after I did the correct config, all is well.

You are going to want to focus on note 517484, specifically under the web dynpro abap section, make sure that all services related to WDA are activated in transaction SICF.
Also make sure that your instance profile in RZ10 has the following parameters, you may need to get with you basis folks for this.
icm/server_port_0 PROT=HTTP,PORT=80$$
icm/host_name_full <your fully qualified host name>
Hi,
are you yourself in the same network?
or are you connecting through internet to your server?
strangely enough i had something like you,
server in the hosting company, i could connect to sapgui on the server,
but the application server was not reachable
since i have vpn connection to the server, i'm able to view everything
maybe a suggestion
grtz,
Koen
Are you sure about the IP address 10.230.89.290? Try to ping the address with
ping 10.230.89.290
I you don't get a positive answer, the IP address is wrong.
If the ping works fine, you have to enter one line into file C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts of your PC:
10.230.89.290 eccserver6.domain.com
I saw that you used colons between the numbers of the IP address, but you have to use dots.
As soon as the line is added to the file, your computer translates the server name eccserver6.domain.com into the IP address 10.230.89.290.
Hope that helps,
Karsten
Hi Karsten Heth,
Actually 10.230.89.290 is not the IP of eccserver6.domain.com.
The semicolons in between are just typo errors
I had tried in all ways. At coomand prompt i gave :
ping www.eccserver6.domain.com & also
ping http://eccserver6.domain.com
It says that it could not fidn the host please check the name & try again.
Any more suggestions please?
thanks
Dany
Again the question: Is this IDES ECC 6.0 running on <b>your</b> home PC, or is it running on <b>another</b> server? In both cases you have to find out the correct IP address and write it into the host file.
And don't put any additions like www or http:// in front of the server name. The command to check the connection is
ping eccserver6.domain.com
and nothing else.
So here is what you have to do:
1. Get the correct IP address
2. Try to ping the IP address with "ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
3. If it works, enter the line "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx eccserver6.domain.com" into your host file
4. Try to ping the host nome with "ping eccserver6.domain.com" which should work now
And of course xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is a placeholder for the correct IP address.
Karsten
Hi Karsten Heth,
I am able to ping ping eccserver6.com and <b>not</b> ping eccserver6.domain.com
But my URL contains (in Webdypro) contains http://eccserver6.domain.com:8000/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/<name>.
shall i proceed to the put "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx eccserver6.domain.com" into my host file?
pls suggest.
thanks
Dany
